Put extra-special finishing touches to a gift by making a unique gift tag. It’ll tug at her heart strings even before she gets to the present!
Photos don’t belong only in albums or on your computer! Choose a few of your favourites and use them to create labels full of sentimental value. Make colour photocopies of the photos and use spray glue to affix them to thin white cardboard. Cut out label shapes then punch holes and strengthen them with self-adhesive reinforcement rings. Attach to gifts with ribbon.
In fashionable colours
Design gift tags using the season’s newest paint swatches. Choose complementary colours and cut out tags. Punch a hole in each and thread through ribbon.
In the post
Use spray glue to stick tracing paper over vintage postcards. Trim the edges with a craft knife and add photo corners. Cut slits in either end and thread through a piece of ribbon.
On the wing
Draw an outline of a bird onto coloured cardboard. Cut it out and use it as a stencil to cut out labels. Decorate using gold spray paint and a paper doily. Tie to a gift using gold cord.
Stamp brightly coloured flower motifs onto pastel-coloured cardboard. Cut the cardboard into tag shapes and use clothes pegs to attach to gifts.
Use a wooden rose shape available at craft shops. Place your paper on top and use an embossing tool with a soft, round tip to transfer the design to the paper. Cut a circle around the design and glue it on top of a slightly larger circle cut from pretty scrapbook paper. Punch a small hole through both layers using a scrapbook puncher and thread through narrow ribbon to keep the effect delicate and feminine.
