A taste of the east
What a lot of second moms-to-be want these days is a party that celebrates their own tastes and interests rather than just focusing on the baby. A fun idea is to give the baby shower an eastern flavour. Expecting moms want a grown up party with non-alcoholic cocktail drinks and just subtle hints of baby's imminent arrival. Rich colours like aqua and fuchsia pink combined with western elements create a setting that is exotic and interesting. Chinese bowls with chopsticks, Buddha ornaments, and Chinese umbrellas and lanterns in the trees create the perfect setting.

Teddy Bear's Picnic
If you go down to the woods today, you're sure of a big surprise. If you go down to the woods today, you'd better go in disguise. For ev'ry bear that ever there was will gather there for certain, because today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic... This is an ideal party theme because teddy bears are perfect if you are expecting either a boy or girl and will keep your participating toddlers amused. Spread blankets, cushions and bales of hay on the ground for guests and set up a low food table to create a picnic-type atmosphere. Borrow teddy bears from friends for the party and decorate the table with them.
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1 cup of sugar
- Bottled sparkling water
- Lemon slices and mint to garnish
Place the sugar and lemon juice in a saucepan over low heat and gently simmer until the sugar has dissolved and the liquid is syrupy. Allow the mixture to cool. Pour some of the cordial into a jug and top it with the bottled sparkling water.
Add a little more cordial depending on your taste. Add ice, lemon slices and sprigs of mint before serving to your guests.
There is no theme that could be more appropriate than the theme of angels. Using a white and silver palette, decorate the tables with silver under plates, white crockery, crystal glasses, white feather boas, white daisies and angel wings tied to the chairs. An angel decoration can be offered as a party favour.
