A New Lifestyle for a New Year

A new year marks the beginning of new passions, new dreams and new resolutions. Each year we begin the New Year with the same excitement and ambition, yet somehow our dedication falls flat in a few weeks.

In this article we shall tackle the exploited subject – achieving your dream body,   from a different angle. We are going to banish all fad diets and kick celebrity workouts to the curb. We'll take slow steps towards our ambition rather than ambitious steps towards our goal.

Here are some tips and tricks, which will help you lose weight, stay energized, fit, beautiful and more importantly, true to your new year's resolution.

No more overambitious diets

Let’s face it, how long can lettuce taste good? Sooner or later you are going to give into the temptations of a mushroom risotto. This is when things start going downhill. Avoid this pitfall and cut down portions instead of curbing your cravings. It will help you reduce your calorie intake and keep your frustration levels to the minimum. One simple trick would be to downsize your dinner plates.

Move it

No healthy lifestyle is complete without a physical training programme. Be it strength training, cardio, yoga or just a walk around the neighbourhood; make sure you indulge in some sort of physical activity on a weekly basis. 30 minutes a day are enough to give more energy, stronger bones and a faster metabolism. Also, when you exercise, your body releases chemicals called endorphins, which trigger a positive feeling in the body and mind.

Time out

The easiest way of maintaining your mental health is by taking a break. Taking 30 minutes a day to do something you like can slash your stress levels by half. So, pursue a hobby, meditate or take a nap, whatever it may be, just take time to unplug. Studies have shown that a relaxed and happier state of mind can improve the quality of your hair and skin, increase your metabolism and raise your immunity.

Remember, the key is to stick to something that you can actually stick to, instead of trying to change your life in a day.
